Investigation Yields Use of Illegal Players

Over the weekend of June 27th, 2008, we discovered the possibility that 3 AFC teams may have used illegal players in MYSA league games and MYSA tournaments.  Upon further investigation, we have determined that at least 1 illegal player (over age) in each of the following teams was used in more than 1 game: U12BC2, U13BC2, and U14BC2.

As a club, we have taken the following actions:

  • We are continuing the investigation and auditing the proof-of-age documents to determine if there are more players involved
  • The coach responsible for the 3 teams has been suspended indefinitely from any AFC activities pending a club hearing
  • We have contacted MYSA, alerted them of the problems and have provided all the information needed to determine which games must be forfeited.
  • We are actively contacting affected opposing coaches and club presidents to explain what happened and to apologize for the actions of this coach as well as for any inconveniences we may have caused their clubs, coaches and players.
  • Via a complaint to MYSA, we will be seeking an exemplary punishment for the person responsible.
  • As a club, we have started setting up procedures in place to prevent this from happening ever again.

As a new club, we are saddened by what has happened and sad for our players who are the real victims in this case.  The teams involved have excellent players already and now they have seen their hard work on the field erased by the misguided actions of one individual.

As a new club, we are embarrassed and we hope that all those affected can accept our deepest apologies for what has happened.

Please contact us directly if you have any questions or comments at info@ArsenalMN.com.
