AFC's Super Eagles Lose 1 - 3 to Chicago Wind in the Last Game of the Thanksgiving Series.

After a very even first half and a similar start for the second half, #11 from the Chicago Wind launched a rocket from over 25 yards out to open the scoring and break the deadlock.  The game opened up and the Wind scored again 7 minutes later to make the score 2 - 0.  The Arsenal FC Super Eagles did not give up and answered with a goal of their own less that a minute later.  There was a glimmer of hope for the tie as the Super Eagles continued pressing hard, reaching the Wind's goal often, but in minute 36, the Wind put the game away by scoring their third and final goal of the game.

Hamed Jaman launches the ball to beat the Wind goalkeeper.

The Arsenal FC Super Eagles are scheduled to play the second series of the National League at the end of December in Orlando at the Disney Showcase.

A goal in the 16th minute of the first half was enough for the Manhattan Phoenix to walk away with the win today.  In a very tight game, each team had plenty of chances to score, including when Hamad Jaman hit the pipe on a breakaway late in the first half.  The Arsenal FC Super Eagles are 0-2-0 going into the final day of this portion of the National League schedule.

AFC's Super Eagles Drop National League Opener to Slammers (CA-S)

In their return to competition, after 5 months of not playing together, Arsenal FC's Super Eagles (National Rank: #16, Region II Rank: #4) dropped their National League opener to the Slammers by a score of 0 - 2.  After 38 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Slammers drilled a ball that was loose inside AFC's penalty area into the upper left corner to take the 1 - 0 lead.

The second goal came when a high ball shot by the Slammers, bounced in front of AFC's goalkeeper on its way into the goal.  As Peter Osborne struggled to control the ball to keep it out of the net, the assistant referee (at least 20 yards away from the goal line) ruled that the ball had crossed the goal line and the referee awarded the goal.
